Grace Under the Oaks is on the hunt for

a new horse to join our herd!!

The connections that our riders make with our horses is what makes adaptive riding so special. We cherish our equine team members and we are looking for the next horse that will help us create these magical moments for our participants.

Horse requirements:

  • Age:  open - will depend on health and appropriate disposition

  • Height:  14.1 - 15.3 hh

  • Must be able to carry up to 200 pounds (this is determined by calculating 20% of the horse's body weight)

  • Must be sound at the walk, trot, and canter

  • A horse who has extensive experience off-property (shows, trails, etc.) is a plus

  • The horse must have the right attitude for the job:  patient, calm, unreactive and not claustrophobic.

  • Horses that spook in place are acceptable, but a horse that bolts or spins when startled is not.

We believe in providing a well-balanced life for our horses.  They will participate in no more than two program days a week with a maximum of three riders a day.  We also ensure that our horses get additional exercise opportunities (including trail time if they enjoy it) throughout the week based on their individual needs to keep them fit and engaged.
